"Bowtie-Bri" found this & e-mailed me. Thanks

I saw this and thought I'd post it up for you.

Pretty interesting. Anyone know anything about this truck?

Is this the only GMMG red truck that Matt built? Maybe.

Matt built one red Chevy Truck. This could be the one? If I had the brass door tag # I'd know for sure.

Great 'needle-in-the-haystack' find. This is just why the new Forum works!

I sent an e-mail asking for the door tag #. You might want to do the same?

It was supposed to be at Mecum Chicago last weekend. The owner elected to cancel the auction. Lot T225

Guys this was my old truck. Origianlly a GMMG truck prototype. It has a 6 spd and LS6 engine with as Stage 2X package on it. I also put 4.11 gear in it with a complete SS body kit. The GMMG bodyshop did all the paint work. It was a fun project. Another one was built it is orange and went to Berger Chevy. We never built anymore.

Hope this help.

April 9, 2021 fro ownner

Good Mornin' Jim,

Emailed with Mike C this morning. My truck was a Berger hot rod truck, red in color, other Berger hot rod truck was hugger orange. Those are the only two trucks GMMG did for Berger per Mike.

The truck you drove in 2008/2009 time frame must have been another shop truck that Matt had around. I confirmed that my truck has never had a hitch on it this morning, as it does not have the RPO code Z82 in the glovebox, which would have specified tow package with hitch.

Mike installed the phase 2X powertrains in both of the Berger trucks for GMMG, one orange and one red, at Berger's request in 2003. The hugger orange truck was the higher mileage, power tour, work horse truck, and my truck was Berger's low mileage, show truck. Mike bought my truck from Berger in April 2005, at which point he had GMMG install the OEM SS body kit and chrome wheels. He sold the truck in November 2005 to it's second personal owner, owner of Martin septic, Chuck Martin, who resided in Florida. Chuck died a few years after buying the truck, and the truck saw little use until it was sold in 2011 to Jim Miller. Jim titled the truck for 1 year in IL and then for the rest of his ownership in WI to negate the emissions laws in IL. He was also the gentleman who was going to sell the truck at Mecum in 2013, but got cold feet and took it back home.

This makes me the truck's 4th personal owner, having purchased it in April 2021. Mike said he had some pics of this truck on an old laptop that he is going to try and dig up.

If you have any pics of a red Berger hot rod truck from the April 2003- November 2005 time line, those would be photos of my truck.

So, that's all I have so far. I've attached the email chain from Mike. I wonder where the hugger orange truck went off to....

Cheers,

Curtis
