My latest Camaro addiction addition . . .

The one and only 2012 THR ZL1. Minor appearance and performance mods. Puts down 549 rwhp and 525 rwtq.

Delivery day at Tom's shop. My fiance and I were all smiles, and Scott Settlemire was able to be there for the delivery.

At Superfest this past summer

Doing laps at Michigan International Speedway

Getting his dyno tune after break in:

Hanging at the Henry Farm

This is one amazing car that Chevrolet has put together and Tom's wizardry has made all the more exciting . . I call it Jeckle and Hyde . . one moment calm, comfortable, serene . . but push the throttle and all hell breaks loose.

Andy, I would have thought you would have bought it from Berger. Sure is a nice car! :)

Yup, remember, Very nice 35th you have!

@GMMG Blackbird wrote:NICE CAR! WHAT MODIFICATIONS DID THEY DO? IS IT A 6 SPEED?

It is a manual, it needed the row box for maximum FUN . . . funny how asking 6 speed was norm for a stick . . but even the auto is a 6 speed . . LOL

The performance mods are minimal . . Long Tube Stainless Steel Headers, Performance Cats, Polished Stainless Air Intake and a Dyno Tune.

The factory dual mode exhaust is beyond AWESOME . . . at start up is all bark and growl . . for driving is pretty sedate, but get on it and the growl is all there.

When Tom started it in the show room I swore he put a cam in it . . .

I was wondering the same thing... How does it compare with the Berger?

Between the two . . the cars are completely different.

The 4th gen Berger SS P2 with the Koni 1LE is simply put a crude beast . . . screams old school, rough and tumble . . a ball to drive short distances, but for long hauls just harsh . .

The 5th gen Camaro is an entirely new experience (nearly too nice). . and the technology in the new ZL1 is honestly mind blowing . . I call it Jeckle & Hyde . . when first started barks like a mean dog . . sounds like it has a cam . . . once vacuum builds the dual mode exhaust closes and the car has a calm V8 burble. You get in the interior is quite plush and inviting. Drivablity is seamless. Drive it calm it rewards you with a very comfortable ride . . put your foot into it, and all hell breaks loose . . the exhaust screams . . the tire beckon for mercy . . the suspension stiffens and the steering tightens . . it purely is amazing . . you can drive this car on a long haul trip and enjoy it. It is a car with dual personalities . . and you have the control to each one . .

Thanks for the write up! It sounds like an awesome car. I was fortunate enough to drive one of the new Berger SS cars a few years back but I would imagine the ZL1 is a whole different animal. Everything I’ve read in the magazine articles have been positive. I’m glad to see it always beating the Mustang.
